What is the role of teachers in schools and what do students in C:S do during school time

Preface

The initial objective of this task was to find out if there are teachers in C:S' schools and if they had any role that affects students during school time.

Well the short answer to this question is that there is no teachers in cities skylines and that students are only affected by time.

The rest of the document explains the specifics of what students (and citizens in general) experience during school or work time.

Citizen's main game loop

All citizens are created with an age of zero if they are born inside the city or with a random age between 0 and 180 if they moved to city.

During the game loop:

• All citizens ages are updated (increased by 1).

• At some time in the morning the game starts to move all citizens from their home to their work places.

• During the time the citizens are at school or work only their age gets updated.

• By the end of the daytime frames the citizens have a random decision wheather to head back home or send an offer to find an entertainment building of an also random type.

After each age update the game checks if the students reached a certain age that they can graduate from their current school.

The graduation ages are as follows:

For reference the maximum age for citizens is 240

• Elementry School: 15 or 45

• High school: 90 or 180

• If the citizen is not a student, they change jobs every 15 years.

Conclusion:

• There is no dedicated role for teachers in the game.

• Students and workers don't make any active actions that correspond to working or learning, they just spend time inside their work or school places till it's time to go home.
